The JKK and JKM benefits increase, BPJamsostek estimates that claim payments will increase by more than 20%

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The government has increased and added to the benefits of the Work Accident Security (JKK) and Death Security (JKm) programs managed by the Employment Social Security Administration (BPJamsostek).
This increase in benefits is in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) number 82/2019 concerning amendments to PP Number 44/2015 which regulates the Implementation of Work Accident Security and Death Security Programs.

Along with the increase in these benefits, BPJamsostek President Director Agus Susanto admits there will be additional claim payments this year. Agus estimates, claim payments will be more than 20% in the year. However, he cannot predict exactly how much the increase in claim payments will be in 2020.
“If the claims increase on average by 20 percent every year, maybe bigger than that. But not up to 50 percent,” said Agus, Tuesday (14/1).
According to Agus, the potential increase in claims as well as the impact on BPJamsostek’s finances has also been carefully calculated by BPJamsostek actuaries.
“We have made calculations with our actuary team, both internal and external to anticipate the increase in claims, and to anticipate the level of financial health,” said Agus.

Meanwhile, based on BPJamsostek’s records until November 2019, claim payments that have been made have reached IDR 26.7 trillion. The payments are divided into JKK IDR 1.4 trillion, JKM IDR 790 billion, Old Age Security (JHT) IDR 24.4 trillion, and Pension Security IDR 105.7 billion.
Meanwhile, the funds under management of BPJamsostek until November 2019 reached IDR 418.73 trillion.
With PP 82/2019, if a worker has a work accident that causes a total disability to death, the heirs will get a scholarship from kindergarten to college with a value of IDR 174 million for 2 children.
Previously, scholarships were given to 1 child with a value of IDR 12 million. It is calculated that the increase in this benefit is 1,350%. There are also new benefits received at JKK, namely in the form of homecare and additional costs for transportation, funerals, periodic compensation and claim expiration.

Meanwhile, for the death benefit, there is an increase in the amount of transportation costs, funeral costs and periodic compensation of Rp 42 million from the previous Rp 24 million. The increase in these benefits reaches 75%.
