President Jokowi Explains the Benefits of the Tukul Dam in Pacitan
Merdeka.com – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has inaugurated the Tukul Dam in Pacitan Regency, East Java, Sunday, February 14, 2021. Jokowi believes that this dam is ready to provide benefits to the surrounding community, especially for the agricultural sector.
“Alhamdulillah, this afternoon the Tukul Dam, which was started 6 years ago at a cost of Rp. 916 billion, has been completed and ready to function,” said Jokowi at the Tukul Dam, Pacitan, East Java, Sunday (14/2).
Jokowi revealed several benefits with the operation of the Tukul Dam. For example, to irrigate around 600 ha of rice fields, and reduce flooding by 42.21 m3 per second.
“This dam has an important role in flood control, irrigating irrigation water, and providing raw water here at 300 liters per second, and for Pacitan residents with a capacity of 8.7 million m3,” he explained.
The former Mayor of Solo is also optimistic that the Tukul Dam can increase the planting index of farmers in Pacitan Regency and its surroundings.
“This dam can provide enormous benefits, namely 600 ha of rice fields. So that it increases the cropping index from the usual planting of one rice and one crop of crops to two crops of rice and one crop of crops. God willing, this can be seen and done later. “he said.
“I hope that the functioning of the Tukul Dam in Pacitan can strengthen food and water security. I ask the Regency and Provincial Government to manage this well, so that it provides added value,” said Jokowi.
