Lippo Insurance reviews the coordination of benefits from the BPJS

JAKARTA. The national health insurance program which is predicted by the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) as a mandatory government program is believed to increase public awareness of the importance of health insurance. Well, to develop a health insurance business line, PT Lippo General Insurance Tbk is interested in coordinating benefits or benefits coordination of benefits (COB) with BPJS Health.
Agus Benjamin, President Director of Lippo Insurance said that his party supports the mandatory government program. “We want to grow together with BPJS Kesehatan. We definitely do COB with BPJS. However, how to describe these coordinated benefits, we are still reviewing the tactical steps, “he said, after the General Meeting of Shareholders, Wednesday (23/4).
Lippo Insurance does focus on the health insurance business line. This portion of the business dominates the total premium pocketed by the company. Until the end of last year alone, the portion of its health insurance business line reached 59% of the total gross premium of Rp 790 billion. Followed by fire insurance at 17% and motor vehicle insurance at 11.4%.
In terms of growth, the health insurance business line increased by 45% at the end of last year (year on year). The largest health insurance comes fromcorporate health insurance. The company has collaborated with more than 700 hospital providers for health facilities.
“We will still maintain health insurance as the largest portion of the company’s business. Therefore, with us supporting the BPJS Health program, we will explore cooperation on benefit coordination to provide more benefits than the basic benefits offered, “he added.
