Benefits of Pre-Work Cards Towards Advanced Indonesia

KONTAN.CO.ID – The government officially launched the Pre-employment Card program on April 11, 2020. In accordance with the initial concept launched by President Joko Widodo, the Pre-Employment Card is the government’s effort to improve the work competence, productivity and competitiveness of Indonesian human resources.

Initially, the Pre-Work Card was aimed at realizing the vision of developing superior human resources which was the priority of President Joko Widodo’s second term government. However, the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has made the function of the Pre-Work Card even wider, namely as a social safety net during the pandemic.

The pre-work card becomes a lifeboat for people who have to be laid off because the companies they work for are affected by the pandemic and MSMEs whose businesses are also affected by the pandemic. This program provides a glimmer of hope to rise to an advanced Indonesia.

The Pre-Work Card is a public service innovation from the government by collaborating with digital platform partners and payment partners to provide diverse and relevant services at competitive prices. Each pre-work card recipient will receive assistance of IDR 3,550,000 consisting of scholarship funds to attend training, as well as incentive funds given for four months. This compulsory component of training is intended to improve skill and competence of Indonesian human resources.

Pre-Employment Card participants, whether job seekers, victims of layoffs, or MSMEs whose businesses have been affected by the pandemic who want to improve their competence or learn skill can only follow the various training provided. Until now, there are seven categories of training that are favorites, namely sales and marketing training, foreign language training (English, Korean, Mandarin, Japanese and Arabic), information technology training, office training, food & beverage training, lifestyle training, as well as financial training.

Roby Sandy, a cook at a hotel in Bogor who had to be laid off because his place of work had experienced a sharp decline in occupancy rates, felt the positive impact of attending the training in the Pre-Employment Card program.

“I chose to attend training Japanese Cheesecake from Baking World, “said Roby.

From the results of his training, this father of two then sold his homemade cookies online. Positive responses were also received from customers.

“This business is a new source of income for our family. This is all because of the pre-employment training I took. The coaches were very patient in answering my questions, ”said Roby.

Yosebila Noni Erni experienced the same thing. This woman from Tangerang previously worked as a teaching staff in one of the tutoring services and was forced to stop working due to COVID-19. Yosebila also registered and was selected as a recipient of the Pre-employment Card, then took part in English training for job seekers on the Pijar Mahir platform.

“By participating in this training I hope to be able to face interviews in English more fluently,” said Yosebila.

To date, there have been 680,918 people in three batches who have experienced the real benefits of this Pre-Work Card program. In the first year, the government targets to be able to benefit 5.6 million pre-employment card recipients.

Through the Pre-employment Card, hopes to free the workforce from incompetence will soon become a reality. Therefore, let’s remain optimistic in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic to pursue hopes for an advanced Indonesia.
