Perkins Reasons Why LeBron James Should Win the MVP Award
The Los Angeles Lakers superstar who failed to lead his team to last season’s playoffs is LeBron James. This season he returned to his prime with his new teammate, Anthony Davis. It made a Kendrick Perkins say LeBron should win the MVP Award.
Now that the NBA is nearing the end of the season and teams are closer to reaching a playoff spot, NBA analysts have also started debating who they think deserves to win the Most Valuable Player award.
Some of the analysts in the NBA today are predicting that Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo will win his second successive trophy. But for others like Kendrick Perkins, the MVP trophy belongs to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

To support his argument, Perkins shared some interesting facts about the MVP battle on ESPN’s First Take. Perkins explained that Bron did not receive the same treatment as Giannis. He remembers the second time LeBron got it while at Cleveland, where he went to four consecutive NBA Finals and won a title.
At that time, LeBron received a lot of criticism because at that time he was playing in a Conference which was considered weaker. However, now he is in a more difficult Conference, but all the attention is on Giannis Antetokounmpo.
“When LeBron James was in Eastern, everyone just thought ‘Oh, it’s because he’s in Eastern.’ But he once failed to land his fourth MVP when he returned to Cleveland. Why? Because he’s in Eastern. Even though at that time, the MVPs moved to the Western Conference… because they were making noise in the West. ”
“Why don’t we argue the same for Giannis ?! He’s in Eastern. Eastern was weaker then. No LeBron James, no Kawhi Leonard. Why are the arguments not the same now? LeBron brought his talents to the Western Conference. The team [Lakers] is number one in Western.“

This is interesting talk and Perkins is not wrong with that. Back in the day, they used to say LeBron wouldn’t be as good as it was in Eastern when it was at Western. But he managed to prove that he can do well in both Conferences, even at his age and playing in his 17th year in the NBA.
As for his team-mates, Giannis and the Bucks won their first match with LeBron James and the Lakers in this 2019/20 campaign. The two teams will also meet again on March 6 spinners, who do you think should win MVP this season ??
