Even though there is a mismatch, the President asked for the benefits of BPJS Health not to be eliminated

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The issue of mismatch between contribution income and the number of claims alias mismatch in the body of the Health BPJS is again a concern. In fact, this led President Joko Widodo to summon the relevant ministers.

The agenda for the meeting was held internally at the State Palace. A number of officials summoned included Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK) Puan Maharani, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and Chief Director of BPJS Kesehatan Fahmi Indris.

Met after the meeting, Fahmi said, there would be a continuation of this meeting which would later be discussed in depth at the Office of the Coordinating Minister for PMK, Thursday this week. Unfortunately, Fahmi also did not want to talk in detail about what options the government is preparing to patch mismatch BPJS Health.

However, he admitted that there was no option to increase the premium to overcome this. This is in accordance with the direction of President Joko Widodo. “The President also asked not to lose benefits,” he said, Monday (6/8).

So it asked the government to close down mismatch. “The option chosen is that we are in the government kitchen to find out how to cover up the financing,” he said.

Patch using the state budget

Meanwhile, at the same place, the Main Secretary of BPJS Kesehatan, Irfan Humaidi, said that the option to use cigarette excise funds had not yet been confirmed. But certainly, to patch up mismatch to be going to use the scheme from the state budget.

The amount is currently still waiting for an audit from the Development Financial and Supervisory Agency (BPKP). “It’s still in-review, seen from the BPKP, later to the Ministry of Finance, “he said.

The scheme will be, the funds will be taken directly from the state treasury fund. Because, based on Presidential Decree No. 19 of 2016 concerning Health Insurance, BPJS Kesehatan has three options to improve finances, namely, adjustment of contributions, adjustment of benefits and government funding assistance.

Irfan said that his party chose the third option. “We put aside the options for adjusting benefits and contributions,” he said.

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said that his party was waiting for a calculation from the BPKP.

Even so, he acknowledged some of mismatch it will be taken from the state budget. “Some of them will be closed and we will add, but we are still waiting for the count,” he explained briefly.
