JAKARTA. Private insurance companies in collaboration with the Social Security Administration (BPJS) in a benefit coordination scheme alias cordination of benefits (COB) increases. There are 12 companies that have just signed a COB cooperation agreement. Previously, seven insurance companies participated in this scheme.

The dozens of companies participating in the COB scheme include PT Avrist Assurance, PT Arthagraha General Insurance, PT Asuransi Astra Buana, PT Asuransi Umum Mega, and PT Asuransi Jiwa Central Asia Raya.

In addition there are also PT Asuransi Tafakul Keluarga, PT Asuransi Bina Dana Arta, PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero), PT Asuransi Jiwa Sinarmas MSIG, and PT Asuransi Jiwa Generali Indonesia. Not to forget, PT Tugu Pratama Indonesia, and PT Asuransi Multi Artha Guna also collaborated with BJPS through the COB scheme.

Through this COB scheme, two or more insurers (payer) provide coverage to the same person for health insurance benefits. Thus, insurance participants can get other benefits that are not covered by BPJS.

For example, non-medical services such as advancing treatment classes. Another example, participants can get exclusive follow-up care and can go to a hospital that has not collaborated with BPJS Kesehatan in an emergency.

Fadjriadinur, Director of BPJS Services, said that the receipt of COB participant dues can be divided into two groups. First, business entities or individuals pay health insurance contributions directly to BPJS Health by using virtual account each business entity or individual.

Second, private companies that carry out COB with BPJS Kesehatan, can act as payers for health insurance contributions included in the COB using virtual account each business entity or individual.

Private insurance companies will receive a virtual account number from each business entity and individual participants. Well, said Fadjriadinur, then the insurance company will continue to pay dues from policyholders to BPJS Kesehatan no later than the 10th of the month.
