KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The government has announced an economic stimulus policy, one of which is in the form of adding benefits to the 2020 Basic Food Cards to support growth in public consumption.
Starting in March, the basic food card benefit value will be increased by Rp. 50,000 so that each beneficiary family (KPM) gets a total of Rp. 200,000 per month.
“We created a stimulation package, one of which is to target consumption because the last quarter of 2019 we have also seen public consumption drop below 5%,” said Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, Wednesday (26/2).

Additional benefits of the basic food cards will be given to as many as 15.6 million KPM within the period of payment of additional assistance for the next six months. Therefore, the additional budget needed for this basic food card program reaches Rp 4.56 trillion.
Meanwhile, the government, through the 2020 State Budget, has previously set a basic food card budget of IDR 28.08 trillion. As of this February, the total realization of basic food cards was recorded at Rp. 4.46 trillion.
The government calculates that the amount of additional benefits on the basic food cards has the potential to increase household consumption by 0.034% and reduce poverty by around 0.114%.

The government will also ensure that the additional benefits of the Basic Food Card will not encourage future price changes.
