The value of benefits from investing in Hajj funds will reach IDR 7.46 trillion in 2020

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. Head of BPKH Anggito Abimanyu said, Hajj managed funds in 2020 increased 15% from 2019. Hajj managed funds in 2020 were recorded at IDR 143.1 trillion, up 15% compared to 2019 which amounted to IDR 124.32 trillion.
“If (the implementation of) Hajj (in 2020), our (managed hajj funds) will still grow by around 10%. So for example, if the funds were used for last year’s Haj, our funds will still grow around 10%,” Anggito said in a virtual press conference , Wednesday (13/1).
Anggito said that the funds under management for the pilgrimage were, among others, used for investments and placements in Islamic banks. Namely 69.6% of funds for investment or worth Rp. 99.53 trillion and 30.4% for placements in Sharia Banks or Rp. 43.53 trillion.
“From this amount, the value of benefits or returns is Rp 7.46 trillion,” he said.

Anggito said, in 2020 for the first time BPKH made an investment abroad in the form of capital participation in the Awqaf Properties Investment Fund (APIF), which is a managed fund carried out by the Islamic Development Bank. The funds are placed in waqf-based property projects.
“InsyaAllah this year we will get dividends,” he explained.
Anggito said, BPKH is about three years old. When it was first established, the funds under management for the pilgrimage reached around Rp. 100 trillion. Currently, the funds under management are around Rp 143 trillion.
He admitted, the achievement of the managed funds was faster than BPKH’s estimate.
“Hopefully this year we can enter into the haj fund management zone of Rp 150 trillion,” said Anggito.
