jpnn.com, JAKARTA – The beneficiaries at the Paramita Children’s Hall of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) made an innovation by creating work in the form of bicycle seats.

The head of Balai Paramita Ketut Supena said the work was made from the welding and carpentry skills of the beneficiaries there.

“Bicycle seats were made because people during the Covid-19 pandemic were limited to doing activities outside the home. However, the public’s interest in exercising, especially cycling, was also high,” said Ketut.

For this reason, the beneficiaries at the center create and produce works.

“The beneficiaries put their thoughts in a positive direction, learn to make works that are able to compete in the market, are able to manage the financial results of their sales, because the sales of products are entirely for them,” explained Ketut.

From several accounts of beneficiaries, it took them two days to complete a bicycle-seat, if the materials needed were available.

The materials used are used items such as old bicycles, iron, wood, paint, and water hyacinth.

In addition, the bicycle-chair is also used as a means of supporting discussion by social workers in exploring problems faced by the beneficiaries. (cuy / jpnn)
