This type of fad diet will help you lose weight in the short term. However, more research is needed before doctors recommend the paleo diet for weight loss.

2. Reducing the risk of diabetes

According to one study, type-2 diabetics who were on the paleo diet for the short term had significant improvements in blood sugar levels and insulin resistance compared to a diet based on the recommendations of the American Diabetes Association consisting of moderate intake of salt, whole grains, nuts and low-fat dairy products.

3. Reducing the risk of heart disease

Following the paleo diet can lower the risk of heart disease according to one study. The study revealed that the paleo diet significantly lowered blood pressure and raised HDL (good) cholesterol and lowered LDL (bad) cholesterol, which is a major risk factor for heart disease.

4. Reducing blood pressure

High blood pressure increases the risk of heart disease. A 2008 study showed that 14 healthy participants on the paleo diet for three weeks increased their systolic blood pressure levels.
