1. High in antioxidants

Pomegranate juice alone won’t prevent cancer, but research suggests there are nutritional additions to a healthy plant-based diet, such as the Mediterranean diet.

Several studies have found that the components in pomegranate juice help inhibit the movement of cancer cells. These substances weaken the attraction of cancer cells to chemical signals that promote the spread of cancer.
Researchers from the University of California at Los Angeles, United States found that pomegranate juice can not only suppress the growth of cancer cells.
Pomegranates also triggered an increase in cancer cell death in men who had undergone initial treatment for prostate cancer.
“There have been several studies with pomegranate that suggest a role in slowing the growth of prostate cancer,” Zumpano said.
“But it should be noted, the study looked at pomegranate juice in the context of a healthy plant-based diet.”
3. Supports heart health
The antioxidants in pomegranate juice can help keep cholesterol in a less damaging form, and it can also reduce plaque that has built up in the blood vessels.
In a study of healthy men, researchers from Israel concluded that pomegranate juice reduced the likelihood of LDL, the “bad” cholesterol, forming plaque.
Then, besides that there are indications that the juice increases HDL, the “good” cholesterol. Another study showed decreased progression of atherosclerosis in mice that ate pomegranate juice supplemented with it.
Atherosclerosis is the buildup of fat, cholesterol and other substances in and on the walls of the arteries, which can restrict blood flow.
“There are several studies that show pomegranates can help prevent plaque buildup in the arteries,” says Zumpano.
