Drink 3-4 cups of coffee to make it last longer
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia –
For lovers coffee, this news may be an encouraging one. The reason is, a recent study states that the habit of drinking coffee – or more precisely, espresso – can make a longer life and reduce the risk of disease cardiovascular.
Research, published in The Journal of Nutrition, shows that moderate consumption of or between three and four cups of espresso per day is associated with lower mortality.
The study was followed by more than 20 thousand participants over an eight year period. Prior to the study, none of the participants had cardiovascular disease or cancer.
Their coffee intake was measured using the 30 ml size, the standard cup size of espresso.
The researchers revealed that compared with those who did not consume coffee, drinking three to four cups of espresso was associated with a lower risk of all causes of death, particularly cardiovascular disease.
A study published by a group of researchers in PLOS Biology also found that about four cups of espresso may be appropriate for reaping the health benefits of coffee.
Another study from JAMA Internal Medicine found that even drinking decaffeinated coffee can benefit overall health.
Previous research from the New England Journal of Medicine also found a link between coffee consumption and a lower risk of chronic disease.
Meanwhile, various other studies have found that benefits may include a reduced risk of cancer, cirrhosis, and depression.
On the other hand, there are quite conflicting studies on the impact of how much coffee to drink.
A 2019 study from the University of South Australia hinted that drinking six or more cups a day could increase your risk of heart disease by 22 percent.
Meanwhile, the JAMA Internal Medicine study showed that those who drank eight or more cups per day were less likely to die than non-coffee drinkers.
