Benefits of Mirroring for Babies
Does your baby’s eyes get bigger when he looks in the mirror? By looking at their face in the mirror, babies begin to build relationships with other people. And sometimes, after 9 months, he will start getting to know his own face, says Jenn Berman, Psy. D, author Superbaby: 12 Ways to Give Your Child a Head Start in the First 3 Years.
To develop and build new abilities in mirroring activities, do this, Ma.
Reflecting while tummy time. Take the baby tummy time (baby on his stomach on top of you) in front of the mirror. The baby will also be attracted by his reflexes when holding his head longer, as well as strengthening his neck muscles.
Blow up soap balloons. Babies like soap balloons, but in front of a mirror. The soap balloon will help the baby to track moving objects.
Sit with him in front of the mirror and ask “Where’s your nose?” then point to the nose and let the baby see the reflection. Soon, he will do it for himself. (Author: Cheryl Pricilla Bensa / photo: doc. Feminagroup)
